Moodlerooms schedule maintenance
by EDTECH Admin - Tuesday, August 31, 2010, 12:43 PM

From our hosting service:

On Sunday, September 5, 2010, Moodlerooms will perform routine maintenance on systems located in the Dell Services Cloud data center. The maintenance window will begin at 5:00 a.m. EST and extend to 8:00 a.m. EST. During this time period, some customers may experience intermittent site availability.

Additionally, in order to ensure the stable and sustainable operation of our systems, Moodlerooms has instituted a routine maintenance window for periods when maintenance may impact availability. The maintenance window will run from 5-8 a.m. EST each Sunday.

Moodlerooms is establishing this recurring maintenance window to allow for planning on our clients’ parts as well as on Moodlerooms' part. Prior notification will be posted on the Moodlerooms Support Portal and in the RSS news feed to specify whether or not customer sites may expect some interruption to service during the maintenance period.

In light of this new process, and to stay up-to-date with system news and events, it is very important to subscribe to our RSS news feed to ensure that you get updates and announcements as soon as possible. You can do so by visiting the News section of the support portal and submitting your e-mail address in the "Subscribe" box on the bottom right-hand corner.

CONTRACT FACULTY POSTS AVAILABLE AT FOOTHILLS SCHOOL FOR 2010-11

The oldest independent, non-sectarian school in the Treasure Valley, Foothills School is seeking candidates to fill multiple contract teaching positions for the coming school year. Foothills, a pre-K through 9th grade educational program in the city’s rich cultural district, seeks candidates with a commitment to collaborative team teaching, a particular interest in inquiry-based education, and a proven capacity to differentiate educational experiences at the classroom level. Successful teachers at Foothills are committed to learning themselves; they are flexible, collaborative, creative, and independent thinkers – and inspire and motivate students to the same. We live our mission every day in every part of our program’s evolution, and candidates are expected to understand that: “Foothills School is a vibrant learning community where students develop personal, academic, and social responsibility – leading to a lifetime of discovery.”

SPECIFIC OPENINGS:

We are recruiting immediately for a PART-TIME FACULTY MEMBER IN MUSIC. This 8-10 hour per week position will be responsible for deploying a progressive music education program for children in K-3rd grade; the position, with the appropriate candidate, may also have teaching responsibilities in upper grades at our school. The outstanding candidate will be willing to create new curriculum and adapt curriculum to integrate with core content areas the students are exploring in their homeroom classes. A degree in music education, as well as proven classroom management experience, is required.

A second immediate opening at the school is for a PART-TIME TEACHER IN THEATRE ARTS. Through an arts electives program in our Middle School, Foothills seeks to offer an introductory curriculum in theatre arts. The outstanding candidate will have theatre performance and production experience, a proven history teaching theatre to children and teens, and an ability to develop and deploy theatre curricula. A college degree, as well as practical teaching and theatre work experience, are required. Extensive theatre and theatre workshop experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Finally, we are currently accepting applications to teach in our CHOICE Curriculum – a six-week electives program we offer K-9 students throughout the year. We seek a wide variety of teachers and topics, and offer CHOICE classes in five content areas: intellectual and academic pursuits; health and wellness; creative and productive thinking; leadership; and visual and performing arts. If you are interested in offering a CHOICE class at Foothills School, please email plamb@foothillsschool.org.

HOW TO APPLY: To apply for contract teaching positions send a formal cover letter and resume immediately to Shawn Shepherd, Head of School, at sshepherd@foothillsschool.org. Applications are encouraged to be submitted by August 31, 2010 to support our back-to-school timeline.
