The Graduate College is pleased to be hosting two events this April to celebrate graduate student scholarship at Boise State University.
Graduate Student Showcase
Scheduled for Monday, April 3rd, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the Simplot Ballroom, the Graduate Student Showcaseis a one-day conference for graduate students to gather in one location to present their research, work and talents, and to connect with other graduate students and faculty at Boise State, all while learning about other disciplines and gaining conference experience. All degree-seeking graduate students (including those students in fully online programs), in any discipline, are encouraged to participate. For students who do not have experience creating a scholarly poster, the Graduate College will be hosting information sessions to assist them. Several Viewer’s Choice prizes will be awarded in the form of cash gifts.
Three Minute Thesis
On Tuesday, April 11th, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., the Graduate College and other university partners will be hosting the second-annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. Participants have just three minutes and one slide to present compelling oration on their thesis/dissertation or culminating scholarly activity and its significance. Please click here to view Boise State's Three Minute Thesis website, or you can click here to learn more and to view winning presentations from other universities.
The competition is open to currently enrolled Boise State University master’s and doctoral students who are at any state of progression towards earning their degree (prior to graduation). The subject of the presentation must be on their thesis, project or dissertation research (their culminating activity). As with the Showcase, students in all academic programs are encouraged to participate.
We are asking that students get permission from their advisor prior to signing up for the Three Minute Thesis competition. The deadline for providing written permission will be required by Wednesday, March 1. Advisors can submitthis form to consent.
The deadline for students to register for both programs is Wednesday, March 1st at noon.
I am extremely excited about the Showcase and 3MT that will both highlight the amazing scholarship of our graduate students. Please make sure to encourage your students to participate in either or both events.
Feel free to contact Katie Stone at firstname.lastname@example.org or myself with any questions. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

I wish there was some way distance students could participate in something like this. I'd love to do a virtual three-minute thesis!
