Job Title: Instructional Designer 3

 

Job Summary:

As part of the instructional design team, the Instructional Designer will consult and work one-on-one with faculty and other instructional designers to design and develop learning solutions, determine appropriate course assessments, and conduct research into the best practices in e-learning.  The successful candidate will also work closely with a team to provide professional development for faculty and develop institutional eLearning capacity at all campuses of UAA.

 

  • Emerging Technology Research: 
 Test, research and make recommendations on emerging multimedia technologies and evaluate educational applications with collaboration from the Academic Innovations & eLearning team, faculty, university technology committees and all MAUs.
  • Professional Development: Research and remain current on new trends in instructional technologies via individual efforts, campus-wide collaboration, and participation in departmental training and national conferences.
  • Special Projects: Lead special projects that provide support for and build relationships with different academic and instructional design units throughout UAA.
  • Training: Help maintain a collection of general training materials (e.g. step-by-step guides, reference manuals, online modules, etc.) to be used by faculty, staff, and students engaged in learning about UAA available instructional classroom technologies. Participate in professional development activities targeted to eLearning skills and knowledge growth in faculty.
  • eLearning Development: Work closely with supervisor to develop and implement large-scale structures and processes to further grow eLearning standards and practices at UAA in areas such as data collection and analysis, accessibility in online courses, development of a professional development path that dovetails with instructional design processes as defined at UAA, identification and implementation of case management tool for use with instructional design services.
  • Instructional Design: Work with faculty on online course design and development using Quality Matters and Universal Design principles. Provide faculty support on an on-call basis. Serve as liaison to colleges and campuses to help ensure good communications and relationships between Academic Innovations and its constituency.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and 2-4 years experience in developing online and/or instructor-led learning products, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience working in post-secondary and/or K-12 education is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience assisting faculty members with the effective use of technology in traditional, web-enhanced, hybrid and online learning environments
  • Prior experience working in an instructional design role
