Job Title: Assistant Director of Distance Learning: Instructional Design
Under general supervision of the Director of Distance Learning, the Assistant Director of Distance Learning: Instructional Design ensures that assigned CSUN full online programs are designed with focus on student achievement using the most innovative and appropriate educational technologies, applied instructional strategies, and instructional design attuned to the educational level and purpose of the specific course/program. The incumbent is responsible for the development of degree, graduate credit certificate programs, and specialized advanced professional development programs that will be offered by CSUN online for the first time; manages a working group of instructional design professionals, and leads the technical specialists support that report to the Director; works closely with the Director to frame the project and assumes lead responsibilities working with the faculty and other Tseng College program staff to develop the program; develops and conducts research to inform practice of instructional design in online learning utilizing effective research methods for ongoing assessment to improve student learning experiences, educational technologies, and other learning solutions; develops strong and supportive working relationships with faculty members and with the assigned academic lead to ensure collaboration, exceptional instructional strategies and course design, and student achievement; responsible for the ongoing professional development of staff members; works closely with other leads and with the Director to ensure cohesion in the unit, idea sharing, and smooth shifts in focus and work to meet changing demands. Performs other duties as assigned.

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science, instructional design, curriculum design, learning sciences, educational psychology or a job-related field. Master's or Doctorate degree preferred. Equivalent to five years of fulltime, progressively responsible experience creating and successfully implementing online learning solutions for higher education environments, including one year of project management, team leadership, systems implementation and development. At least three years of supervisory experience in an educational environment is preferred.
