Please let us know if you are attending AECT next week in Jacksonville. There will be about six faculty and a number of students and alumni attending.
This might be a conference I need to put on my schedule for next year. What other conferences like this do faculty and students attend? I am hoping to find funding to attend ISTE this year and had also looked at FETC in Orlando. I am interested to see what others think are the most helpful conferences.
ISTE should be amazing in Chicago! I am headed there and would love to meet other BSU folks. It's my favorite conference of the year!
There are so many different conferences each year but you will probably find AECT is the one conference that the largest number of our faculty attend each year. We probably have between 5-9 faculty attend AECT each year, whereas I think we often might only have 1-2 faculty attend ISTE (and some years none). There are probably many reasons for this but one is that AECT is a little more research focused than ISTE; ISTE is a little more practitioner focused than AECT. But you will of course find research presentations at ISTE and practitioner presentations at AECT. AECT is much smaller... maybe 1000 to 1500 attend vs. ISTE which I think can be over 10,000. AECT also has more of a higher ed and corporate education / instructional design focus than ISTE and thus you won't find as much of a K12 focus as you do at ISTE. Both conferences are great; they are just different.
I will be there, and hope to see you all! Have fun!
I'll be there. I'll be showing how the Apple Watch can be used in the classroom in the Emerging Technologies showcase.
