During the 2018 Annual Conference of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), held in Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Ross Perkins, associate professor in the Department of Educational Technology, assumed the role of president of AECT's Design and Development Division. Perkins was first elected to the division's board in spring 2017 and was the division's coordinator for the 2018 conference. Design and Development is AECT's largest division, and its focus is on the facilitation of continuous discourse among faculty, researchers, practitioners, and students in the field of instructional design and technology to promote the advancement of knowledge. As division president, Perkins' goals include continuing the division's outreach to and connection with instructional design practitioners and promoting the division's various awards and its annual design competition.
