NEW STUDENT QUICK –START REFERENCE GUIDE
New students are sometimes overwhelmed with information and don’t know the requirements of their programs. If you are a new student (or a not-so-well-informed current student), please go to the following resources and become familiar with them. The whole process is likely to take less than an hour and can keep you out of trouble during the course of your program(s), plus, you’ll know where to go to get answers to most of your questions!
Flowchart for all EDTECH degree programs, how and when to file critical documents:
Flowcharts for EDTECH Masters Programs
On this webpage it is easy to get an overview of the sequence of events and actions required of you as you pursue your particular Masters program. Use it in conjunction with the appropriate checklist below.
Checklists, by specific Masters degree, that you’ll need to stay on course:
Master of Educational Technology (Portfolio required)
Master of Science in Educational Technology (Thesis required)
Master of Education, Ed Tech emphasis (older degree)
Keep the checklist that pertains to your graduate degree in your notebook and enter the date when you submit a required document. It’s also a good idea to keep a copy of the submitted document in your notebook until you have received a copy of the final, processed version from the Graduate College.
Link to those Graduate College forms you’ll need to submit:
Graduate College - Forms for Graduate Students
On this webpage, you’ll be able to find, complete and submit an Application for Admission to Candidacy, complete and file a Proposed Plan of Study for a Graduate Certificate, and make a course substitution by filing a Request for Adjustment of Academic Requirements. Questions? Gradcoll@boisestate.edu or (208) 426-3903.
Academic calendars you’ll need to follow:
This link will take you to the Registrar’s academic calendars, which are not specific to graduate students, but are the official calendars of the University. A more graduate-student specific calendar is hosted on both the EDTECH website (http://edtech.boisestate.edu/web/advising.htm) and the department Moodle advising webpage (https://edtech.mrooms.org/course/view.php?id=46).
Graduate Catalogs – where to go before and during your program progression.

Finally, if all else fails, call one of the following, depending upon the nature of the issue:

Although we are required to have an up-to-date version of MS Office for the EdTech program, many of us don't have it installed on every computer we use (some of us use 3 different computers, such as work, home, and travel laptop -- and some may want to access the guides on mobile devices that don't run MS Office)
I agree it would be great to have a PDF or HTML or even RTF. Would like to add a request that the PDF not be a scanned version so it's accessible to people using assistive technology. I use assistive technology and RTF is my favorite format.
I found this really helpful with my new Mac Air, as I haven't installed Office, and don't really find I need it on this laptop now that we have access to Google Docs. Good luck!
One of the MET items says to Apply for Portfolio Culminating Activity. I can't locate a form for this. Is this a form based application or another venue?
Thanks for your help.
