At this time there are still plenty of seats available in Portfolio for Summer term.
I have a question about the content and potential workload of the Portfolio course. I have completed my core courses. I am enrolled in the last two elective courses this summer (online learning for adults, and blogging). I took 503 and 504 last summer; it was an intense courseload but I survived, learned alot and am glad that I took those two courses together as they complemented each other.
While I work during June and therefore the first half of a summer course is difficult, I do not work in July and therefore have alot of available time to do coursework the final four weeks. The Fall is very difficult; I often think of my full time job as 2.5 full time jobs for the Fall term, plus two grad classes this past Fall! In fact I delayed my entry to the EdTech program by one term so that I would only have to take two classes in the Fall one time (this past Fall) and just a single class (Portfolio) for my final Fall term.
I have been extremely faithful in keeping my Edtech Learning Log current. Every single assignment and reflection is already in the log and most are already mapped to relevant standards.
Is it feasible for me to consider adding Portfolio in the summer term with my last two electives, or it is really more advisable to wait and finish Portfolio in the Fall. On the one hand I am wary of taking on too much in a short summer term. But it would be nice to finish 'early' and not have any course during my very busy Fall. What are your thoughts?
I'm sure others will respond as well, but just so you know now, students are not allowed to take two electives with portfolio. So, it would be better for you to finish portfolio in the fall. Thanks for asking, Dixie
