I need ideas for Assistive Technologies for a 20 year old student that can't read or write but has verbal capabilities and can identify pictures. She has access to a PC at home but her parents are willing to get a tablet of some kind to assist with a touch screen capabilities as she enjoys using that at school. She has elementary comprehension abilities and low motor skills. Any ideas on applications or programs? I have found a few but would love some additional input. Thanks!
I am a first grade teacher in Lancaster City, PA. My students love starfall.com. It is free, interactive and teaches beginning letter sounds, recognition, and has realistic as well as cartoon images. There are built in rewards for correct answers also. Beginning reading skills are also part of the program and if you choose to, you can print out pages that compliment skills learned on the website!
