As a music educator, I'm generally not very excited about Chromebooks. They don't support the use of our music software and a clam-shell device isn't realistic in a classroom with no desks. With that being said, I can see the appeal of Chromebooks for use in traditional classrooms.
I follow several blogs written by respected music educators and this is one of my favorites. Instead of allocating school technology funds to purchase Chromebooks, the author makes the case for requiring students to purchase their own Chromebook for school use much like they would a graphing calculator.
What are your thoughts? Would a BYOC policy be realistic? What would be the pros and cons?
