The YouTube channel I created for EdTech 533 is currently associated with my BSU gmail address. As I am graduating tomorrow, I would like change my YouTube channel association from the BSU gmail to a personal gmail account. My Google search of this topic led me down a number of dead ends. Since I'm likely not the first EdTech student to have encountered this, does anyone have experience making this change? Thanks very much.
I had to do this recently. You have three options:
- Change the email address associated with the account: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/174100?hl=en
- Download videos and upload to another account: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2404846?hl=en
- Add a gmail account to your YouTube account: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/72198
Thanks for the quick reply. Much appreciated.
Steve, this topic came up in the YouTube class this fall. The Help Desk informed me that the university policy, "...was changed recently so that Graduates are allowed to keep their @u.boisestate.edu email addresses indefinitely. If they discontinue their enrollment WITHOUT graduation, they will no longer have access to it."
You should still have access after graduation, but do download all of your videos anyway for backup. You can download one at a time from the video manager. YouTube might only allow you to do a few at a time so you will have to download in small batches over time.
Good luck and congratulations.
Thanks for this helpful reply. I'm so glad I can retain the BSU email handle and tandem connection to my YouTube channel. I concur with your suggestion to download videos as backup. I've got them all on my hard drive, but YouTube is so easy to manage.
And thanks again for your excellent instruction Fall 2013. I've used YouTube in my teaching extensively. Great to be able to access your tutorial library when I need it.
