EdTech’s Patrick Lowenthal has won two awards this summer. He was selected to receive the Shauna Schullo Best Distance Teaching Practice Award at the Distance Teaching and Learning Conference. The award was based on his presentation called, If You Record it, Will They Watch it? And Will it Matter? Exploring student perceptions of online video. He also tied to win the NUTN Network’s 2015 Research and Scholarship Award this September.
Lowenthal presented a webinar for EDUCAUSE titledReaching Out and Being There: What we know and don’t know about social presence. Joni Dunlap of the University of Colorado joined him in the presentation, which was part of a four-week course on humanizing online teaching and learning.
He also won a grant to provide instructional development for a grant titled, Building Young Women’s Health Literacy Skills through an online game to promote breastfeeding.
