Dr. Baek published an article titled “How Debriefing Strategies Can Improve Student Motivation and Self-Efficacy in Game-Based Learning” in Journal of Educational Computing Research (2015), Vol. 53 (2), 155-182. His colleagues and he compared the most common debriefing approaches and investigated the quality of the debriefing sessions. The results showed that debriefing sessions conducted in the middle of the game generated better outcomes than debriefing sessions conducted after the game. For educators in this filed, this paper implies that clarifying misunderstandings and giving students the opportunity to revise the events made them feel more confident in their ability to reach the specific goals in the game.
